One of the oldest known apples accurately mentioned as early as 1561 (with hundreds of synonyms) and generally popular throughout central Europe although highly esteemed in Germany. Hardy, withstanding night frosts and generally canker free. The flesh maintains a crunch, is juicy and sweet with a pleasant vinous flavour with hints of cinnamon. Pollination group 4.
