Chataigner - an ancient cider/cooking variety from Normandy.

Yorkshire Apples

Aka Chestnut. Reckoned to be known in 1200 this scab resistant variety originated from Normandy.  This variety produces relatively late with fruits that have firm, white flesh with a fairly sweet to tart subacid flavour. It is disease restistant and hardy and is said to cope with higher attitudes. Pollination group 5.
