This well known,very large, Victorian (raised 1857 in Leicester), heavy cropping cooker, holds its shape and retains its sweetness when cooked. Said to be a seedling of Blenheim Orange and introduced in 1868. It stores well - probably there is non better - it is a highly regarded variety that is tolerant of cold and damp. Resistant to canker, scab and mildew. Suitable for organic methods and a great addition to any garden. Pollination Group 4.
