Raised in 1825 by Richard Cox this variety is regarded as simply the finest tasting English apple. The juicy fruits are a wonderful complex of aromatic tones that include hints of spice and melons. Said to have been raised fron a seed of Ribston Pippin possibly crossed with Blenheim Orange. Nowadays it is grown commercially although it can be a challenge to grow as it needs care and attention.
