An early season variety from the south of Moscow originating in the early 1700s and used as the foundation of the Massachusetts 1920s cold hardiness breeding programme. Parent to Alkmene and McIntosh. It's flesh is creamy-yellow, fine-grained, crisp, aromatic and juicy. Perfect for northern Britain. Pollination group 2.
