Thought to have been raised on Lord Egremont's Estate in Sussex this is a medium sized, golden russet was first recorded in 1872. It has been ever popular due to its distinctive rich flavour, its fine, firm, juicy flesh and the fact that it is a good cropper. It is also partially self-fertile, tolerant of late frosts and resistant to scab. Coinsidered to be thebest russet with an Award of Garden merit in 1993. Pollination Group 2.
