Golden Nugget - a fabulous sweet fruit with organic potential.

Raised in Nova Scotia (1964) with Cox and Golden Russet as parents. This rare dual-purpose variety is of interest to organic growers in that it is resistant to scab, canker and mildew.  The crisp and juicy fruits are small, russetted with a sugary-sweet, rich yet mellow flavour with a distinct pineapple tang. Pronounced as a dessert apple this variety is also valued within cider blends. Pollination Group 3
