From uncertain origins although probably Sussex (recorded in 1629) and said to be one of our oldest and esteemed dessert apples that nowadays can be characterised as a cooker although historically was also used in cider making. The flesh is very juicy, sweet with intense fruity flavour. Scab resistant. Pollination group 3.
