Liberty - highly disease resistant USA fruit with great flavour.

An interesting deep dark red apple purposefully bred to be disease resistant to scab, rust and mildew. It is said to be the most disease resistant of all apples. This modern variety (New York released in 1974) is only slightly less sweet than McIntosh (it's parent) together with a complex vinous, mild tartness in the taste. A useful apple for the organic grower. Pollination Group 2.
