Ribston Pippin - an important variety with great flavour.
Yorkshire Apples
Raised in 1688 from a pip sent to Ribston Hall in Yorkshire from Rouen and later said to be one of the parents of Cox's Orange Pippin. Ready in early October, the fruits are juicy with a rich aromatic flavour that are slightly tart straight off the tree. They develop sweetness when stored. Best grown in drier soil - resistant to scab. Pollination group 3.
