This is the original variety developed in 1955 in the Netherlands at the Agricultural Research facility in Wageningen. The fruits, of Cox and Reinette Etoilee (a European heritage variety that is resistant to scab and mildew) ancestry, are red flushed, crop readily and generate fine tasting sweet flesh that has hints of raspberry.
