Bakran - a red fleshed crab apple from Iran

A very small red fleshed crab apple that originates from the north of Iran that is said to produce more antioxidants than other apples and is believed to have values in curing some diseases including some cancers. The fruit is largely bitter-tart becoming marginally sweeter with maturity. It has an interesting value within a cider blend. Pollination group 3.
